Pine Island Writers meet at St. John’s Episcopal Church Fellowship Hall in St. James City, every Monday evening at 7:00.

Put a voice to your work by reading your poem or a section of your current work. You may choose to write on the week’s topic or you may just choose to listen. We limit the length of a reading to 500 words, depending on the number of participants.

The group facilitator keeps us on topic and ensures that everyone has a chance to share their work in a timely manner.

Directions

From off island, follow Pine Island Road to the 4-way stop at Pine Island Center. Turn left (south) onto Stringfellow Road. The church is located approximately 2.8 miles on the right.

Dates we are closed in 2016

July 4th Independence Day
September 5th Labor Day

Membership

Pine Island Writers is a 501c3 non-profit organization. Dues are $24.00 a year, renewable in January, and pro-rated during the year. In order to use the PayPal payment option, you will have to pay the full amount as they cannot pro-rate the cost. The difference can be used as a charitable donation to our organization, which would be greatly appreciated.

We request that you please join at your second visit. Your dues are used for seminars, membership in the Pine Island Chamber of Commerce, meeting space rental, publication seed money, printing costs, and island charities. Click on “Pay Now” to send in your member dues.

Donations

Pine Island Writers has been in existence since the late 1990's. Since then, we continue to strive to expand our programs and offerings to the community. We hope that you will take part in some of the exciting speaker events that we are offering this year and experience firsthand the pride we take is supporting our cause.

It is our mission to encourage writers of all genres, abilities, and experience to grow further in their writing. This is accomplished in our open meetings where, through the process of gentle guidance, critiquing is available in a positive manner. We also educate individuals on the interactive art of the written word.

We promote community pride through the craft of writing and occasionally produce and manage the distribution of publications. We hold speaker events, seminars, and workshops throughout the year and rely on the generosity of individuals for support. Without the assistance of community-minded individuals, we would not be able to serve those in our community each year.

Not only do we educate on the art of writing, but we help our local communities by donating much needed funds to help keep our island and surrounding communities viable. Your generosity will make a difference, by allowing us to continue a higher level of local work and service.

Please consider making a donation now by clicking on the Donate button. We thank you in advance for your generosity.
